Friday I went and took Jarrett, Isabelle, and Gregor to the park to play with some of the kids from our new ward. It was way out of my comfort zone, but I was glad I did it, we met some really good families and they helped me feel better about Las Vegas.
Saturday we got up and drove to Red Rock Canyon. It is only about 30 minutes from our house. We had such a good time. We browsed the Visitors Center and then went to find a trail to hike. The kids loved it! They found real Indian writing, lots of new bugs, 2 lizards, the fattest squirrel ever, and lots of rocks. We had packed a lunch so we went and found a table in the shade. There the kids determined that it was the best adventure ever.
I have found that I look forward to my weekends with my kids and Ben. I treasure the time I have with them. In the two weeks we have been here we have had a real culture shock. The kids have had to be examples and be strong. Jarrett has been bombarded with choices and he is holding strong. Our kids are such good kids and being down here has made me realize even more than I did before how strong and what good kids they really are. It has been the hardest thing I have done, to leave everything I have known for the past 32 years, but I have already seen our family grow and become closer.
